About Chef K9's Doggy Bistro & Bakery
Everyone always asks us "What made you think of cooking for dogs?" The answer is a simple one: We love our dogs! Chef K9's Doggy Bistro & Bakery was born out of our love for dogs, and our sincere desire to help them live long healthy lives.
We strongly feel that so many of the chronic issues and degenerative diseases our dogs experience today are caused by improper diets and inferior ingredients used by the commercial dog food industry. With backgrounds in nutrition, and as classically trained professional chefs, we set out to offer an alternative to the garbage filled world of dog food.
We began researching and studying the many different breeds of dog, and their own unique nutritional needs. We read every book we could get our hands on, including some required reading for veterinary schools. In doing so, we realized it is impossible for any one brand of dog food to be complete and balanced for every single breed. We also learned that the actual ingredients found in a bag of dog food differ greatly from their advertisements and their claims on the bag itself.
What really shocked us was when we learned what really was in our beloved pet's food. From animal by-products to feces, each ingredient was worse then the other. We felt betrayed by the very companies we had grown to trust with our pet's nutritional needs, and most importantly, our dog's lives.
We began cooking freshly prepared meals for our dogs. We used ingredients that were indigenous to that particular breed's country of origin. This way we knew that each dog could properly assimilate all of the food it ate. We learned to fine tune our recipes in the event of a weight control issue, be it too light or too heavy. In doing all of this, one thing became obvious: Our dogs were much healthier. Over a period of months, ailments like Hot Spots, eye infections, and digestive issues that had plagued our dogs were now a thing of the past.
Soon, we began selling to friends, family, and coworkers. Word of mouth led us to new clients, and new opportunities. Today we cook for over 40 different breeds of dogs, all of which show some form of positive effects from our meal plans. We realized quickly that there was a need for our products, and so our little company was born.
